L’Auberge Del Mar & Sesame Place San Diego

Looking for a relaxing beachside escape mixed with childhood fun? I got you loves! Our journey starts with a day trip to the brand new Sesame Place Theme Park in Chula Vista, which is a quick 15 minutes south of San Diego.

Brooklynn & I were so excited to start the weekend off with acting like kids again! We loved the Sesame Street themed park with all our favorite characters, from Elmo, to Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch & so many more. The land rides are all perfect for kids and some big kids, like us. We loved Abby’s Fairy Flight (the swings) & Super Grover’s Box Cart Derby (mini-coaster) BUT the water rides are definitely geared for even the bravest of adults too.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous when looking at Cookie’s Monster Mixer and it took some heavy convincing from Brooklynn to get me on it. Although, after I rode it once, I turned into a giant kid and all Brooklynn could hear was, again- Again! A special shoutout to the LA Times for capturing us having the time of our lives riding down Cookie’s Monster Mixer!

Aside from the plethora of water & land rides, we also really enjoyed the other aspects of the park, like Big Bird‘s story-time & the parade. The parade was packed with so much energy, engaging music and fun for the whole family. We couldn’t help but dance along and loved the TikTok inspired dances we were given by the parade performers & Sesame Street characters!

After a fun day of sun, play and rides we headed about 40 minutes north to our girls weekend for some rest & relaxation at the beautiful L’Auberge Del Mar.

L’Auberge Del Mar captures the stunning costal vibes, seaside elegance and is the perfect backdrop for a romantic or girls getaway. We loved all the fireplaces peppered throughout the resort for when the ocean breeze rolled in. L’Auberge Del Mar is also conveniently located walking distance to all the uber cute downtown shops & farmers market.

After a fun filled day at Sesame Place, we decided on a quieter night of walking to the beach and watching the beauty of a Californian sunset. We were also pleasantly surprised when walking back inside to find live-music in the gathering room & bar. We spent a little time listening before heading inland to catch a movie at the Cinèpolis Luxury Movie Theater. We loved reclining back in the oversized leather chairs and having dinner delivered to us with a quick call of the button, located right on every chair.

Day two of our girls retreat, started with a little bike riding with the beautiful bikes located right on property at L’Auberge Del Mar. We headed down to the local florist & farmers market to gather some treats before heading back to start our spa day. The spa is located within the resort and has relaxing outdoor & indoor areas to enjoy our complimentary pink mimosas and relax before our spa services.

We both opted for the 80-minute Soulful Salt Stone Massage which begins with an invigorating dry brush to stimulate circulation and gently exfoliate the skin in preparation for the massage. After 80 peaceful minutes, including a full-body swedish-style massage with grounding & harmonizing salt stones, we felt absolutely relaxed. As a gift, we both received a heart-shaped charged salt stone to take home.

After relaxing a little more around the resort, we made our way to bar & gathering room for some live music & libations. We loved meeting other guests and catching up on girl chat, all while overlooking the sunset on the pool & ocean.

On our last day, before checking out, we got a delicious breakfast at Adelaide Restaurant. Each table has beautiful views of the coast and property grounds. We both left feeling relaxed and energized for this week ahead.

Stay tuned for my next excursion with Ryan for his birthday in Huntington Beach coming soon!!
