Looking for a beautiful location for your next getaway? Check out Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Growing up in New Hampshire, Lake Winnipesaukee was always one of my favorite locations to visit. Lake Winnipesaukee is 72 sq miles of crystal clear waters bustling with things to do. My favorite area to stay on Lake Winnipesaukee is in Meredith at one of the four Mill Falls properties. Mill Falls creates a little community of inns, restaurants, shops, and activities. All four distinct inns are located within a quick picturesque walk of each other.
We were having a girls getaway and stayed at Church Landing directly on the lake in a room with two queen beds, a fireplace and with direct access to the the lake. Church Landing has a fitness center, two swimming pools (which give me Lake Como vibes), a private beach with a swimming dock, access to Cascade Spa, a stunning lakefront community room and a restaurant on property, The Lakehouse.
The first day we decided to get into the girls weekend with relaxing massages at Cascade Spa located right within Church Landing. Cascade is a full service spa and salon with breathtaking views of Lake Winnipesaukee. We had a one of kind experience on the brand new Cascade Outdoor Spa Deck. This private oasis features indoor-outdoor vibes with a giant deck overlooking the lake, private bathroom, and optional privacy through curtains. This is perfect for a private spa experience for couples, bachelorette or wedding parties, or for oneself to take in the beauty of nature while relaxing. We got absolutely incredible eighty minute massages listening to the lake roll in and the beauty of nature.
After feeling completely relaxed, we headed to the Town Docks Restaurant for some lunch. The Town Docks are located right next to Church Landing and feature laid-back picnic style tables in beach sand over looking the docks and lake. If you’re from New England, you’ve probably heard of the Common Man. If you haven’t, you are in for a treat. The Common Man is a family of restaurants in New Hampshire that offer a wide variety of creative cuisine, from comfort foods, to Italian-American, to American fare with New England flair! The Town Docks is also a great spot to grab some drinks and catch up with friends.
For the reminder of the first day, we spent it swimming in the lake, laying out by the pools (one family friendly and one adult only) and hanging in the beautiful white adirondack chairs peppered throughout the Church Landing property.
For dinner, we made a reservation at Lago located directly on the lake across the Town Docks. We loved the art sculpture walk from Church Landing to Bay Point where Lago is located all within Mill Falls. Lago has indoor and outdoor seating with a delicious menu of Common Man cuisine. Some of our favorites were the Tuna Tartare, NY Strip Steak, Orecchiette Sausage Broccolini and for desert the Tiramisu.
Day Two, we started our day with Yoga by the lake from Ekal Activity Center. If you are staying on property, there are so many complimentary classes to choose from. If you’re staying off property, don’t worry, you can still join in on the fun for a small class fee. After yoga, we grabbed a quick breakfast in the Mills shopping area at the Waterfall Cafe.
Next, we chartered a boat from Ekal for five hours to explore the lake and check out all the sand bars. We had a wonderful man named Rodger as our caption who took us to see all the mansions on Governers Island. Rodger also let us know about a floating bar and restaurant who visits all the different sand bars called, The Barge.
If you haven’t been to a sand bar, think waist-high water surrounded by docked boats and a party in the water. The Barge was much fun! It was a two-story floating restaurant & bar complete with bathrooms and live music. After hanging at the Barge for a while, we headed back to Rodger & the Pontoon boat that can hold up to 10 guests at an hourly rate. This charter was private and your caption will take you anywhere you want to go. We finished the afternoon with some cruising and a stop at Braun Bay before heading back to Church Landing, just as the sun was starting to set.
On Saturdays, Church Landing does bonfires by the lake and a live fire painting show. Check the activities board for all the fun things happening when by looking online or at the lobby by check-in.
On the last day of our girls weekend, we did some paddle-boarding around the lake through Ekal Activity Center. Ekal has paddle-boats, kayaks, aqua cycles and so much more available for rent. On select days and times, these may be available to hotel guests complimentary as well!
It was so nice to ditch our cars for the weekend and be able to walk or cruise by boat to all of the activities but there are so many things close by if you do feel like driving. Some of these activities include The Weirs complete with shopping & arcade, the Bank of America Pavilion (perfect for catching some live music) and the drive-in movie theater.
