New Brows, Who’s This: My Microblading Journey

Looking for those full, bushy brows that are all the rage right now?! Well, look no further Loves. I scouted the best Microblading Technician in LA and I’m so excited to share my journey with you!!

Let’s start at the beginning. I have blonde hair. Blonde hair means light, fine eyebrows to begin with, never mind the over plucking/waxing I did to my poor brows. I have tried using makeup to build brows, which works until you sweat (hello summers in LA) or by accidentally rubbing your forehead. Next, I tried tinting my brows. This works great for about 3 weeks although the color can fade and or get spotty after 2-3 weeks which left me using makeup again or constantly running to my brow technician to get them touched up.

I had heard about Microblading but was unsure about the whole process. Does it hurt? How long do they last? What is the healing process like? Do they look natural? I talked to several LA based Microblading Specialists over the past 2 years but never made the move. It wasn’t until I was at an event, smudged my brow half way up my forehead and didn’t realize it for sometime, that I knew it was time for Microblading.

Step One: Selecting the right Microblading Specialist

Welcome, INK-Perfection by Sydney. Sydney is an international educator & teacher in Microblading, MicroShading, Ombré and Powder Brows and an expert at constructing the perfect brows. After speaking with several different specialists, I ultimately felt the most comfortable with Sydney. Making the initial appointment is easy by clicking HERE.

Step Two: Selecting your Brow Shape, Color and Type

Once you make your appointment with Sydney, she will send you some do’s and don’ts as well as what to expect for your Microblading appointment. I love that Sydney doesn’t use a stencil or a one size fits all approach to brows, everything is customize-able. She analyzed my face-shape & movements then gave me some options for the shape & size of my brows. She draws them on using string and a protractor type device to make sure they are even and gorgeous!! Next you will get a couple color options of the natural, organic INK she uses, which was very important to me when making my decision. I went coconut & coffee brown about 2-3 shades darker than my hair as it will fade by up to 30% in the first few weeks. Don’t worry if you don’t like making decisions, Sydney will walk you through all these options. I also went with combo brows of microblading & microshading. Watch my full video journey HERE.

Step Three: The Treatment

Okay Lovies, we now have our brows stenciled on but it’s time for the actual process. The whole appointment will take about 2-2.5 hours and the actual microblading will take about 1-2 hours depending on your brows. Sydney applies a numbing cream to help minimize any discomfort. You will be laying down during this whole time, very similar to getting your lashes done. In the beginning, I felt a little almost like scratching, like you have an itch and you’re scratching it with a jagged nail. It didn’t hurt but I could feel a little something. I let Sydney know and we applied a little more numbing cream. Also, please note I am a baby when it comes to anything needles. After the second round of numbing cream, it was lights out for me, LITERALLY, I fell asleep 😴 awaking when they where almost done. It was quick, painless and I was so ready to sit up and see my new brows!! Click HERE to see my reaction 💕

Step Four: Post Treatment After Care

After you have your beautiful new brows, Sydney will give you post care instructions with what to expect. For me, I had heard horror stories of the post care & needing time to heal with scabbing. I was so scared in my line of work, I would be out of commission. This was NOT true at all. What I experienced was amazing. For seven days, I put a special cream on them and avoided make up over my new brows but honestly they were so beautiful I felt like I didn’t even need make up. Days 2-4, I noticed they got a little darker by one, maybe two shades, which I didn’t mind at all. They were so beautiful and dramatic. Days 5-7, they were very even with a little shedding, mostly when washing my face in the morning and at night. Days 7-9, they lightened up and looked fully healed. I am now 13 days in and I feel so much more confident, I find myself loving my face-shape & eyes and wearing less makeup, not that I wear a lot to begin with but they just look soooo amazing!!

Step Five: Follow Up Appointment

The final step in getting the brows of your dreams, is the follow up appointment. In a few weeks, I will visit my Brow Angel 😇 at INK-Perfection by Sydney and she will do any little touch ups I need. Then I am off for about a year of perfect brows!!

Heidiisms Tips:

1. Don’t schedule during that "Time of the Month", as you are a little extra sensitive to pain during this time.

2. Give yourself about 7-10 after where you don’t have any big events or vacation, just incase (no swimming or lots of sun during this time).

3. If you've been considering Microblading, don’t wait years like I did. I honestly feel like a new woman and wish I had done this much, much sooner 💕

Hope you enjoyed my Microblading Journey Loves!! More pictures & IGTV is now live HERE.
